Holy Haiku
God shines from pulpit
Abraiding black yesterday
Forging me anew.
"Bow down to our gods!"
There is one God alone, He
Saves me from shipwreck.
Trusting in God, I
Tread my feet through dark places
I am not afraid.
Gas wheezes, flames, glows
Cleansing away outer chill
But inside untouched.
In church quietly sit
And attend to chastening words
Or write poetry.
